VISITORS  TO  SCHOOLS

The Board encourages visits to all District schools.

The Superintendent shall establish regulations regarding visitors to District premises.

Visitors are defined as:

A.  Persons not employed by the District or enrolled in District schools.

B.  Employees, when not working on District business.

C.  Students,  when they are not at the site at which they are enrolled.

Relatives of employees or students who fit the above categories are considered visitors.

Regulations shall permit full use of all legal means to assure that:

A.  The educational program is not disrupted.

B.  Students, employees, visitors and District property are safe.

C.  No unnecessary safety risks occur.

Parent/Guardian  and  Prospective
Parent/Guardian  Visitors

The Superintendent shall develop procedures to allow for visits, tours and observations of all classrooms by parents/guardians of enrolled pupils and parents/guardians who wish to enroll their children in the District unless a visit, tour or observation threatens the health and safety of pupils and staff.

Parent and prospective parent visit, tour and observation policies will be easily accessible from the home page of each school’s website.

No person shall carry or possess a weapon on school grounds unless that person is a peace officer or has obtained specific authorization from the appropriate school administrator.
