SCHOOL  DISTRICT  MISSION

The Scottsdale school community inspires all students to be passionate learners and empowers them to fulfill their dreams.

A.  To increase individual student academic achievement and personal growth.

B.  To provide a positive, respectful, and safe learning environment.

C.  To ensure all students and staff are proficient in the use of technology to acquire and manage information, communication, time, and task.

D.  To provide equity in opportunity, facilities, programs, and resources for all.

E.  To offer comprehensive professional growth programs for staff to provide them with the skills, strategies, and resources to meet the needs of all students.

In order to meet the individual learning needs of all students, the Governing Board embraces a philosophy of providing choices of learning environments for parents, students and teachers.

The Governing Board expects that all programs provided to students in District schools will meet the following standards:

A.  Support the strategic plan of the District.

B.  Be of superior quality.

C.  Align with the state and District essential skills and standards.

D.  Acknowledge the unique learning needs of the individual.

E.  Challenge each student to do one's personal best.

F.  Provide for and support effective teaching methods that are supported by quality research.

G.  Provide the necessary resources to challenge the minds of individual students.

Within these standards the governing board believes:

A.  Parents should have the opportunity to choose from a variety of learning environments that best meet the needs of their child/children.

B.  Students should have the opportunity to learn in a motivating and supportive environment that meets their individual learning needs.  Students should be challenged by a variety of instructional techniques that will enrich and extend their learning.  They should be supported in their creative endeavors and motivated to expand their learning opportunities.

C.  Teachers should have the opportunity to teach in an environment that supports the District mission and goals, while respecting the beliefs and teaching philosophies of others.  A variety of instructional strategies should be a part of the teaching skills that they bring to the classroom.

The Governing Board expects all employees, working in a collaborative manner with parents and students, to provide an environment at the schools that embraces the District mission and goals
