IKA
GRADING / ASSESSMENT  SYSTEMS

A District-developed grading system will be utilized.

Teachers will keep a careful record of the grades assigned to students.

Grade reports are made available to parents and posted every nine (9) weeks by the teacher, and continuous progress reporting is made available via the student information portal.

Teachers will confer with parents when necessary concerning academic progress and discipline of students.

Teachers will report to parents on students' conduct, scholarship, attendance, and tardiness.

Grade reports will be sent home quarterly to report pupil progress.  Grade reports will be revised from time to time as needs arise.  A grading guidelines committee will serve as an ad hoc committee to make recommendations and revisions to the Superintendent.  At the beginning of each school year principals will hold meetings with the teachers to discuss grading policies and guidelines.

Special  Education

Grades reporting achievement of special education students not taking regular education classes shall be given on a basis commensurate with the students' abilities and based on their individual progress rather than in competition with classmates.  The educational records for such students shall indicate enrollment in special education for those classes.

Parents of special education students shall have access to special education grading guidelines in order to avoid misinterpretation of the achievement grade.
