DISTRICT  MISSION  AND 
BELIEF  STATEMENT

The mission of the District is to graduate students with the social and academic skills necessary to succeed at their next level of schooling.

The Governing Board and administration will lead the way in providing an innovative and supportive climate to accomplish the mission while holding high expectations for themselves and the employees and students of the District.

Vision

All students at the Elgin School will be given the opportunity to achieve their greatest potential.

Beliefs

The beliefs of the District are outlined below.

●  A successful learning environment respects and takes advantage of the differences in all individuals.

●  All individuals should be actively engaged in learning.

●  A sense of order promotes learning.

●  Children learn best in small classes.

●  Teachers are the foundation of a strong educational system and should be mentors and motivators.

●  Learning is a lifelong journey.

●  A physically and emotionally safe environment should exist for all members of Elgin School.

●  Every child should become a positive, contributing member of society.

●  Home, school, and community teamwork enhance quality education.

●  Mastering skills - not unwarranted praise - enhances self-esteem.

●  Successful experiences are essential for every child.

●  All students can learn when challenged and given opportunity and time.

●  It is necessary to promote responsibility and accountability.
