REDUCTION  IN  FORCE and REDUCTION IN SALARY

Reduction in force is defined as that situation in which, after all possible transfers have been effected, it is still necessary for the District to reduce the number of certified employees:

Valid circumstances for reduction in force include, but are not limited to:

●  Decrease in student membership.

●  Decrease in revenues.

●  Reduction in educational programs.

●  Consolidation of school districts and/or schools.

The Governing Board may eliminate certified staff members in the District in order to effectuate economies in the operation of the District.  The number and type of positions required to implement the District's educational program will be determined by the Governing Board after recommendation from the Superintendent.  As required by state law, a decision regarding which teachers will be released or recalled in connection with a Reduction in Force (RIF) shall not be based on seniority.
