IIB
CLASS  SIZE

(Organization of Classes)

The Governing Board believes that the student-to-teacher ratio in classrooms across the School District is an important factor to consider when organizing groups of students for instruction to optimize learning opportunities.  The Board also recognizes that decisions about class size are influenced by the educational needs of individual students, how the subject/curricular content is taught, other human resources assigned to the classroom (e.g., educational assistants), technology, and financial resources.

The Superintendent will determine a staffing formula that results in equitable distribution of full-time equivalency (FTE) staffing across the school system.  The staffing formula is flexible to support the different needs of elementary, middle, and high school daily/weekly schedules and enables the delivery of the Board-approved comprehensive program of study.
