PROFESSIONAL STAFF EMPLOYMENT
GCGSubstitute Teachers
The Board will establish the daily pay rate for substitute teachers.
The Superintendent will screen all applicants for substitute positions and recommend substitute teachers to the Board for approval. The Superintendent will establish regulations to ensure that all substitutes used in the schools are on the Board-approved substitute list.

Staff Members
The Superintendent may employ, when conditions warrant, temporary or part-time personnel on a per diem or time card basis. This authority is subject to the following conditions:
A. Continued employment of any such person shall be subject to confirmation and approval by the Board at its next official meeting.
B. The employee shall be hired on a per diem basis and shall be compensated in accordance with the requirements and limitations of existing contracts that cover similar positions or employees.
C. In addition to the conditions set forth above, the temporary assignment of a person to a supervisory or administrative position shall be preceded by notification to the Board. The Superintendent will detail the circumstances that created the need for the part-time employment.
Certificated Substitute
Pay Schedule
Tier 1 - Emergency Substitute: One hundred five dollars ($105) per day.
If an emergency substitute works more than twenty (20) consecutive school days in the same position, the substitute shall be paid a modified rate for the balance of time that the substitute teaches consecutively in that classroom. The modified daily rate is one hundred twenty-five dollars ($125) per day. Substitute teachers shall be paid fifty-two dollars and fifty cents ($52.50) per each half (1/2) day of teaching.
Tier 2 - Regular Substitute (No teaching experience): One hundred fifteen dollars ($115) per day.
If a regular substitute with no teaching expereince works more than twenty (20) consecutive school days in the same position, the substitute shall be paid a modified rate for the balance of time that the substitute teaches consecutively in that classroom. The modified daily rate is one hundred thirty-five dollars ($135) per day. Substitute teachers shall be paid fifty-seven dollars and fifty cents ($57.50) per each half (1/2) day of teaching.
Tier 3 - Regular Substitute (two [2] or more years contracted certificated teaching experience in a K-12 school setting): One hundred twenty-five dollars ($125) per day.
If a regular substitute with two (2) or more years contracted teaching experience in a K-12 school setting works more than twenty (20) consecutive school days in the same position, the substitute shall be paid a modified rate for the balance of time that the substitute teaches consecutively in that classroom. The modified daily rate is one hundred forty-five ($145) per day. Substitute teachers shall be paid sixty-two dollars and fifty cents ($62.50) per each half (1/2) day of teaching.
Long-Term Substitutes:
Long-term substitutes who are placed by District in various long-term positions will maintain the modified daily rate of their category as approved by the Superintendent.
Professional staff hiring procedures to select the subtitute, when practical, should be used.
When the substitute assignment is less than a full day, the remuneration will be prorated.
Substitutes working on an increased rate will attend faculty meetings and participate in all of the regulard duties and assignments of the person being replaced.
