RELIGIOUS  LEAVE

Each non-twelve (12)-month employee will be granted personal leave not to exceed four (4) days per year, cannot be used as four (4) consecutive work days, prorated based on the employee's assigned hours.  Such leave shall be deducted from the employee's available general leave balance.  Personal leave is not accumulable.  The four (4) days may only require an explanation under specific circumstances.

Requests for personal leave must be received at least four (4) working days prior to the first day of leave, and must be approved by the principal.  Requests shall be acted upon in order of receipt, and the availability of substitutes may limit the number of requests granted at any one (1) time.  Such leave shall not be granted at a time when it is deemed detrimental to the instructional program.  Except in extenuating circumstances, personal leave will not be granted on the following 'black out' days:

A.  All in-service/pre-service days.

B.  The first/last five (5) school days.

C.  All professional workday Fridays.

D.  The workdays before and after all District-paid holidays.

E.  The days before and after the fall, winter, and spring breaks.

F.  During state-mandated student testing.

G.  Mondays or Thursdays during the month of May.
