FOOD  SERVICES

The District food service program shall strive to provide well-balanced meals that are nourishing, available at moderate prices, and served in a pleasant surrounding.

Food services will include lunches, and may include breakfasts, through participation in the National School Lunch Program.  As required for participation in the National School Lunch Program, the Governing Board prescribes:

●  That a school lunch be made available to students.

●  That a free and reduced-price lunch is provided to students who qualify under federal guidelines.

The Superintendent or designee shall develop and implement procedures as necessary, which are designed to meet the necessary requirements for participation in the National School Lunch Program and for control of students using the cafeteria.

The Governing Board shall establish prices to be paid by students for school meals and the price charged to adults who purchase meals.

In order to safeguard the financial integrity of the lunch program, the School District's Food Service Program has exclusive rights for all food served at the midday meal.  Outside, competitive lunch time food sales are prohibited without the approval of the District's Food Service Director.

The Superintendent shall develop procedures to implement this policy and shall formulate a plan to provide free or reduced price meals for all eligible students.
