FIELD  TRIPS

Field trips must be planned within the context of the school program and must be appropriate for the age level, grade level, and curriculum.  All educational field trips are part of the regular school program and must be approved by the building principal prior to the field trip.  Due to limitations imposed by local conditions, field trips may be limited by the Superintendent. 

Before any student is taken from the school grounds on a field trip, written permission must be obtained from the parents or legal guardians.  Supervision by school personnel shall be provided for all field trips.  Transportation shall be provided only by District-authorized vehicles, driven by authorized personnel or licensed contract services.

In general, field trips shall be conducted within the normal school day.  Longer field trips or overnight field trips must have the Superintendent's prior approval.  Out-of-state field trips must be approved by the Governing Board prior to the field trip.
